About Us

The Swiss Umbrella Organization for congenital heart defects improves the situation of patients and their relatives, promotes the network between self-help organizations and specialists, educates the population and supports research into congenital heart defects.

Every 100th child is born with a congenital heart defect. This makes it the most common birth defect. Our politically neutral and non-profit organization supports children and adults with congenital heart defects.

Parent and Patient Organizations

Evhk.ch

The diagnosis of a heart defect impacts the development of affected families. Therefore, parents founded the Parents’ Association in 1989. We support affected parents, organize events, and promote exchange.

The organization Fontanherzen Schweiz supports and accompanies families whose children live with a single ventricle, provides information, and facilitates exchange among affected families and professionals.

The Association for Teenagers and Adults with Congenital Heart Defects focuses on more than just your heart condition.

We foster connections among families with heart-affected children in Western Switzerland through meetings and support groups. We offer sports and leisure activities and support projects to improve daily life.

The International Society for Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ISACHD) is a nonprofit organization to promote, maintain and pursue excellence in the care of adults with congenital heart disease worldwide.

Each year, 700–800 children are born with a congenital heart defect, over 90% of whom reach adulthood. Nursing plays an increasingly important role. Therefore, the "Interest Group Nursing for Congenital Heart Defects" was founded on January 13, 2016.

The Swiss Society for Pediatric Cardiology (SGPK) is an association of doctors specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care of children and teenagers with heart and circulatory system conditions.

WATCH, the Swiss working group of cardiologists for teenagers and adults with congenital heart defects, advocates for appropriate cardiac care for this growing patient group. Thanks to specialized procedures in pediatric cardiology centers, most affected children reach adulthood.
